All the reason to LOVE photography

A photo is not just a click of a camera or a portrait to have on a wall. A photo is soooo much more! A photograph tells a story, stops a moment in time, and allows that moment to live on forever. A picture is like a time capsule. One you can look back on and remember those special times in your life where that moment you clicked the camera or placed a photo on a wall truly meant something.

The last couple of weeks on facebook have been a look back on “old school photos.” I have enjoyed very much looking through everyone’s photos because they all individually tell a story about someone that I may not have known at that time in their life. Some have been funny to look back and remember the time when flipped bangs and tie die shirts were in. It has also been a walk down memory lane as many of the photos I have seen were of people passed or of those I have lost touch with over the years. What really struck me was the other day when my sister posted some photos of us when we were kids. Talk about having your heart stop…

Here in this picture is my sister Christy (5) and I (7).We were and still are very close growing up only 18mo. apart. When she posted these photos it struck me how quickly life goes by and how much fun we had when we were kids. It brought me back to a place where I remember as a child living in our old home selling lemonade at the mailbox and running around with all the neighbor kids. It was a time in life where there were no responsibilities or worries to be concerned of…what great moments to look back on!

This picture was me at three…It’s so amazing to look at this photo and see my son who is currently two. I had lots of people comment on this photo and make note of my “bowl” haircut…lol!

My sister Christy just over one in this picture…They didn’t call her the Michelin Baby for nothing…Love you Sis!!

Anyhow, enough down memory lane. The point of this post is to express the importance of making and remembering moments in your life. Photography on any level whether it’s professional or not is important to have in your life. You want to be able to look back and remember the smiles, hugs, laughter, and milestones in your life. I know I have loved looking back on these moments in my life this week. Thanks for sharing these photos Christy…It has truly meant a lot to me!!

Best of 2009

When thinking back on where this last year has gone, I quickly remember how hard I have worked to get to this moment. There have been many times where I wanted to set my camera down and call it good, but my love and passion for photography always brought me back to why I truly love to capture the moments. It’s the expressions, emotions, and reactions you get when you are looking through your lens that I love. It’s knowing when you look through your photos, that yes, I got the “one” photo. The one that makes your heart jump; even at a glance. Now that I am looking back on 2009 and looking forward to whats to come in 2010, I thought I would share my most favorite images of 2009. In no particular order, here is the reason why I love what I do and am passionate for capturing the moments!

It’s the connection, the emotions, the light, and the moments that make a photo come alive…

Trust me…I have so many pictures I would love to share in this post, but there is not enough space to show all the photos that have truly impacted my journey thus far. I hope to share more soon, but for now, that will do…Good night to all!

Welcome to my NEW blog!

Welcome to the OFFICIAL Stephanie Reeder Photography Blog. This is a very exciting time for me as I am pursuing my passion and dreams in photography. Photography for me has always been a passion of mine, but did not come alive until the birth of my son in 2007. As many first time parents, I wanted to capture every moment with my son and be able to look back on how precious and fun he is and was while young.  While I still love to capture every moment with him, my hobby of photography has quickly turned into more then I could ever imagine.  I am very blessed for all the support and encouragement I have received in the last year to per sue photography as more of a business.  My outlook on this new journey will not be to see photography as a “business,” but as an extension of the passion and love I have for capturing every moment.

So without further ado, I am officially launching Stephanie Reeder Photography in 2010.  Where things will go, I do not know, but with my faith, family, and friends behind me I know I am going to have a wonderful year!

Stay tuned for more news on my journey…coming soon!
