Maura and Dennis Cancun Destination Wedding

If someone were to ask me, what do you enjoy most about what you do, it would be hands down the amazing people I get to meet and hang out with. I met Maura this last summer through an email inquiry about her destination wedding she was planning in Cancun. It wasn’t long before I knew she was an amazing person and we would get along just perfectly. We have talked long distance through email, skype, and telephone for the last six months and last weekend I was so excited to meet Maura and Dennis finally in person. When I arrived last Thursday, it was like walking into a great group of friends. They immediately invited me to hang out and made me feel like one of the wedding party. The wedding was on Saturday and could not have been anymore beautiful. I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to meet such amazing people like Maura and Dennis. They are truly a perfect match and to capture their special day was an honor. To Maura and Dennis, congratulations to you both on a beautiful day and future together. Thank you so much for inviting me to be a part of your wedding celebration. I look forward to seeing you all again soon!

Lastly, the best feeling and gratification I get from what I do is knowing that at the end of the day, the bride and groom I have the pleasure to work with are no longer clients, but great friends!!

Wardrobe Wednesday {where fashion meets photography}

Ok, so I first have to mention my apologies for being behind on my Wardrobe Wednesday post. January has been a very busy month getting ready for the up and coming bridal season {So excited}. I promise I’ll be getting back on track here soon…PROMISE!

Now, on to the good stuff! For all of you who love the Wardrobe Wednesday like I do, you’re not going to want to miss out on this fabulous collection put together by Lindsay of Lindsay Horn Photography. It’s been almost four years since I have been in maternity clothes and might I just add how cute things have gotten since then. Furthermore, we have a couple of expecting mommies in our group of WW ladies so it’s perfect that Ms Lindsay is sharing some of her very own little secrets for dressing up for your upcoming maternity session…Enjoy!

Lindsay shares, “With our own little bundle of joy on the way in July, I’ve had maternity portraits on the brain! We didn’t get “real” maternity portraits taken the first time around (I know, shame on me), so I’m really excited to capture this special time for round two! It’s so easy to feel frumpy and unattractive in some of the maternity clothes out there, but there are a lot of really cute outfits too! I’ve chosen a couple of different styles and paired them with a coordinating looks for your man as well.

Style number one is the “Urban Chic” look. You can be pregnant and still be super trendy and stylish! I LOVE this dress, I think the neckline gives some great balance for your adorable baby bump. Being a Texas girl, I substituted the boots in the image for something a little more southern, and I added a vintage headband and necklace for a sweet feminine touch. As an extra sweet bonus for you, TFJ Design is is offering 15% off of the first 10 orders of the Kayla headband using the code: WWKAYLA15! Make sure to click on the link below in the shopping list to take advantage ASAP! If you do miss out, check around her shop, she has plenty of adorable accessories. Dress your guy up in this modern take on an old classic – he is also the perfect accessory!

Style number two is the “Casual Cool” look. I picture these outfits in a natural setting where the colors will really pop. I love the layering in this outfit, and it just goes to show that our standard style advice still applies even in a maternity wardrobe … layers, textures, and accessories! I found some great jewelry to round out this adorable ensemble, and even included an accessory for your hubby too (if he’ll go for it!).

Just remember, pregnancy is something to be celebrated and commemorated, no matter how much weight you’ve gained or how unattractive you may feel. You DO look beautiful, and your kiddos will love looking back on these images one day too!

Who I am in 2011

After taking the time to reflect this last week on 2010, I began to think of who I am as a photographer. While it’s obvious that I love to capture love, laughter, and the milestones in peoples live; it wasn’t clear {here on the blog} of who I was as a person. It is my New Years resolution in 2011 to showcase not only my love of photography and passion for this industry, but to share a little bit of myself as well.

To start this year off on the right foot, I thought I would share a little of who I am in 2011…

I am not just a wedding photographer, I am a wife, mother, sister, and friend. I am in love with all things creative and beautiful. Believe it or not, I was voted the person most likely to go into a creative field in high school…Go figure! I love to shop, dance, and sing in my car (yes I am one of those girls…lol). I can be silly at times, but it’s only because I love a reason to make people smile.

My biggest fear is failure and have realized that in order to conquer my fears I must continue to dream and live without regret. I have come to the point in my life where I live and cherish every moment. I focus on being the person I want to be and not what others wish I could become.

My family is my life! I am married to my best friend and soulmate. I always thought my husband would be the only one I would love as much as I did, until my son came into our lives. Now age three, he has fulfilled my life beyond belief. We love to take adventures, play cars, read books, and pretend we’re pirates at bath time. I can’t help but melt when he tells me “I like you mommy” which is his way to say I love you…so sweet!

Lastly, as in years past…In 2011 I will continue to be a dreamer and always lead with my heart!
