Wardrobe Wednesday {Fun with Style}

Oh I am so excited to share with you this weeks Wardrobe Wednesday! It’s time to think about senior photos for 2011 and you have no clue where to start…No worries here! The fun part of photographing a senior (or family for that matter) is that you are able to make it all about you and stylize yourself to truly highlight who you are as an individual. Whether that be through accessories, fun colors, or themed photographs, it all about having fun and stylizing YOU!

This weeks Wardrobe Wednesday come from the fabulous Lindsay from Lindsay Horn Photography. She says “When anyone asks for suggestions on what to wear, the first two things I always say are layers and textures. A mixture of textures and layering can add so much depth to an image and make it overall more visually interesting. I tried to capture those two ideas in these outfits for a senior girl. I also like to tell my senior girls to accessorize! The beauty of an accessory (like the sweater, headband, or even funky jewelry) is that you can wear it for a few shots and take it off for a few shots and get some different looks. Outfit #1 is a great casual outfit with a nice pop of color. Outfit #2 is a little dressier, and I included a couple of options for shoes.”

Wardrobe Wednesday {how easy it is}

Wardrobe Wednesday is one of my favorite post of the week. I have looked forward to all week showing you some wonderful ideas for wardrobe choices and how simply it can be to put together an outfit for any photo session. Just like last week’s edition, our team has come together to give you some amazing tips and tricks in preparing you for your family photo session.

I am in love with beautiful colors and this weeks Wardrobe Wednesday give some great tips on incorporating color into your family photo. Also this week the fabulous Jennifer Minor of Minor Impressions decided to take a spin and put together an outfit that suits beautifully for a maternity photo session.

Jennifer say “Normally I suggest to my clients that for family photo sessions, the wardrobe should revolve around the kiddos. I usually pick out one outfit (normally the little girl’s) that brings together everyone else’s attire. This week is a little different though because I decided to pick a wardrobe for a maternity session. Of course, this revolves around the mama, so everything I picked out was made to go with the her outfit. The great thing about this plaid shirt is that there are so many colors to choose from for the kiddos and the dad to match, and just like last week’s suggestion, you still have a great wardrobe even if you only have the dad (or boy or girl) and mom in the picture.”

You can find this great combination at the places listed below!

Wardrobe Wednesday {Fabulous at its best}

One of the most frequently asked question I answer with my clients when preparing for a portrait session is “what should we wear?” This is such an important question and detail to your session because it not only defines who you are as an individual or family, but it is also what brings fabulous color and design to your photographs.

When I was invited by my industry collogues to be a part of Wardrobe Wednesday, I was not only excited, but honored to be a part of such a wonderful idea and collaboration. So, without further ado, I would like introduce to you the seven other fabulous photographers from around the country and collaborative artists of Wardrobe Wednesday.

Every Wednesday myself or one of the additional fab seven will bring you inpirational ideas and tips on how to put together a look including where to buy the selected wardrobe. This week’s Wardrobe Wednesday is brought to you by Kelly Valeri of Kelly V. Photography.

Kelly says, “I wanted to choose options that would be affordable for most families, so I started at Children’s Place, which always has great looks at a great price. The only moderately pricey pieces are Mom’s capris and Dad’s leather sandals, but I guarantee you can find something similar for less almost anywhere. I accessorized a few pieces at Etsy because I’m a big fan of supporting local artists!”

Here’s the this week’s Wardrobe Wednesday installment. The stores and prices are below.
